Hi friends! it has been a long time since I have blogged. It has been a long crazy week. For seminary I have recently started working in the special needs class. It is such a great experience! Sad news... one of my favorite students from that class is moving, Thursday was her last day. Her name is Barbara and she is super great. She has a hot pink wheelchair and pretty black hair. Her smile is the cutest thing ever! If you'd ever say something to her she would repeat it back in the same tone that you said it, only, a little more excited if the answer was yes, and less excited if the answer was no. There is one word that she does not repeat. If you say sing then she smiles, sits up, and shouts "hooray! Yes! Yes!" then she shakes her head back and forth while she waits for the music. I case you could not tell, she loves music While we would sing, she would sit and listen until she could catch word. She would sing that word with all of her might and then wait for the next familiar word. When the song was over she would clap and shout for joy and enthusiastically yell "again! again!" One time this happened and our teacher, Sister Robinson, said, "no we are done for now, okay Barbara?" Barbara's smile quickly faded, she looked down and deeply sighed. The whole class felt their hearts melt. We promised a song at the end and Barbara's smile slowly came back, she looked up at sister Robinson and said, "okay". We felt our hearts melt again. It was so touching to see. I am already so grateful for this seminary class and the experiences. I will admit that I fell into the worlds way of thinking that these youth are different. But now I see that they are the same as me. They all have different personalities with hopes, dreams, sorrows, passions, likes, dislikes, and they have such strong testimonies. I have been touched in so many ways. I still have the rest of the semester to work with them, so I am sure that you will be hearing a lot more about them. I will miss Barbara, but I know that she will bless lives where ever she goes.
Student of the day: Barbara. super great, loves to sing, great smile. favorite song: Choose the Right. loves to rock and high five.
